| Communications Agenda
The agenda is our main vehicle for communicating
with the home. Teachers check agendas every day.
Please check the agenda for notes from the school
daily. Kindergarten and Pre-K have different
systems of communication. These will be explained
at the interviews at the beginning of the year.
Meet
the Teacher Night (Objectives night)
Early in the school year, all parents are invited
to the school to meet their child's teacher. At
that time they may visit the classrooms and the
teachers will explain the program that he or she
will be teaching throughout the year. The date
for this meeting is usually the middle or end of
September.
Report
Cards and Teacher Interviews
There are four report cards each year: November,
January, April and June. At the end of the first
term, (November) all parents are assigned a time
for a parent-teacher interview. Evening times are
usually reserved for working parents. Parent
teacher interviews will be on request. Teachers
or parents may request an interview at this time.
Phone/Appointments
Parents who wish conferences (phone or in person)
with teachers are asked to send a note to the
teacher in your child's agenda, or contact the
office to arrange a meeting or a phone call. We
appreciate your cooperation in not seeking
"instant conferences", thereby taking a
teacher away from a planned activity.
Newsletters and Notices
Newsletters and parent information sheets are
sent out in students' schoolbags (communication
folder) systematically to ensure that parents are
kept informed. Please check your child's school
bags for these.
Protocol
for Complaints
The parent should raise the concern directly with
the staff member concerned.
If the parent has not gained satisfaction after
having talked to the staff member, the parent
should address the matter with the school
administrator.
If the parent is not satisfied with the solution,
the parent can then bring the matter to the
attention of Our Director of Schools (Mrs. Maria
Maselli)
If the matter is still not resolved to the
parents' satisfaction the parent can then bring
the matter to the Office of the Director General
of our School Board.
After having followed the protocol above, should
the parent wish to pursue the issue, the parent
may request a revision through the Secretary
general's office in accordance with the Education
Act.
