Mission
Statement
Total development
of the individual child through quality education.
Philosophy
of the school
The basic philosophy of Boucherville Elementary School is to encourage the
child to develop intellectually, spiritually, socially, culturally,
emotionally and physically to the best of his/her ability in an
environment of positive encouragement.
In order to encourage intellectual development, we stress academic
achievement and we attempt to enhance the cognitive growth by challenging
the child as much as possible.
-
The
spiritual needs of the child are met through the teaching of Catholic,
Protestant or Moral Education programs offered in the school. The
value of respect and tolerance for individual differences is
encouraged.
-
We
strive to enhance the social needs of the child by encouraging
autonomy in an atmosphere of warmth and understanding. In order to
promote the cultural awareness of the child, the curriculum and school
life will explore the many cultural facets inherent to our society.
-
Self-confidence
and acceptance of self and others are promoted in order to develop the
emotional growth of the child.
-
The
physical education program, team sports and other activities enhance
physical growth.
To
accomplish these objectives, the staff, parents and principal work closely
together and share the responsibility as much as possible.
Strategy
of Realization and Implementation
-
The Ministry
of Education programs are followed. French mother tongue instruction
is offered in grades 2, 3 and 4 and 5.
-
Allowances
are made for the differences of growth in individual children.
-
The
ministerial programs will be enhanced through the use of technology.
-
Multifaceted
evaluation, including formative and summative is used.
-
The
teachers receive adequate in-service training to be able to teach the
ministry programs.
-
Positive
encouragement and recognition is fostered in all aspects of school
life.
