Special
Projects
Green School
The school prides itself on its ongoing
environmental programs. Each classroom is
furnished with a blue box and the school recycles
everything possible. Boucherville Elementary has
achieved the status of a Green School. Both staff
and students want to continue efforts to be
environmentally responsible. This year the
students will continue on their campaign to
protect the environment in a new program called
Destination Conservation.School
Success Plan / Soundprints
A program to promote the development of early
literacy skills, Soundpints, will be the focus of
our School Success Plan. Research has shown us
that students learning to read must be able to
hear and manipulate sounds in their heads
(phonological ability). Children in Kindergarten
will be exposed to activities that will help
develop their phonological abilities (not to be
confused with phonics). Children in Cycle 1 and 2
will follow the Soundprints program which will
teach students reading skills in a context that
is real to the students. (Special Science books
and projects will be used).
Student
Motivation
We are committed to recognizing our students'
efforts and accomplishments. We will highlight
their successes in a variety of ways. Students
may receive awards, certificates, special
coupons, or receive honorable mention in the
Newsletter.
We will be planning special celebrations
throughout the year.
Arts
We will be inviting artists, actors, musicians
and craftsmen to work with our students on
special projects throughout the year. A special
fund has been set up to promote this project
